Sometimes when you buy a new leather jacket it’s just a little too… new. The leather is a bit stiff and it doesn’t feel quite right.
Well a friend of a friend once said that you should put your leather jacket in the washing machine on a spin cycle (no water) with 4-6 tennis balls (yes, you read that right). The tennis balls will ‘beat’ the leather as they go round in the machine. Result, soft and supple leather and a jacket that you love even more.
I prefer this method over the 80s method of ‘beat your jacket against a brick wall’ because it softens the leather without scratching it. We want a polished look, not a rough and ready punk look.
Give it a go and let me know what you think! -C
